This meeting will be a double-header.

Ralph Masciulli will present the products and services
offered by the Boston Section of the IEEE. The specific
topics will include support for a potential Lecture Series
and what services are available to support a potential
conference.

Rich Maynard will present a demonstration of his Pixie
Lisp-based robot, a small robot platform used for
development. Rich has been working on using a functional
language for higher-level robot programming, and has been
successful in enhancing Lisp with actuator, sensor, and
vision primitives.

Elections will be held at the October meeting this year. The
current officers have been nominated for the next year. They
are Rich Maynard - Chair, Peter Meyer - Vice-chair, and Jay
Sage - Secretary.

If you'd like an opportunity to add being an officer of the
IEEE-RAS to your resume, this is the meeting to come to.

As usual we will break for dinner at Bertucci's after the
meeting.


                    MEETING INFORMATION

The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society will meet on
Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at Wellesley High School at 6:00
PM for informal discussions and for the formal presentation
between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. The group will have a no-host
dinner afterwards at Bertucci's, where more conversations
can take place with the guest speaker. The meetings are open
to the general public, and all are welcome at the dinner
afterwards.

                         DIRECTIONS

From Route 128, take either Route 9 or Route 16 west. From
the junction of Routes 9 and 16, follow Route 16 (Washington
Street) west past the Wellesley Hills commuter rail station
(within walking distance of the school), then turn left onto
Rice Street. Wellesley High School is on the left. Parking
is available in a lot just beyond the school.
